I am a Clinical Psychologist who has been providing treatment for a wide variety
of conditions since beginning my training in 1966. I have derived great personal satisfaction in
helping people with life-long heavy smoking habits to stop smoking completely and to stop smoking
permanently. I began helping others save their lives from smoking several months after I stopped
smoking in 1984. I had been smoking for 23 years. When I decided to save my own life I was smoking
3 packs of Marlboro each day. I never thought that I would ever live to see the day that I would be
a non-smoker. I was able to stop and so can you!
I utilize an integrated treatment approach employing cognitive-behavioral therapy,
biofeedback, clinical hypnosis, and if necessary, psychotropic medication in consultation with your
family doctor. Not all people have the same smoking habit. I do not use a "cookie-cutter"
"one-fits-all" strategy. Instead I develop an individual treatment plan to fit the nature of your
specific smoking habit.
Take Back Control of Your Life
I can and will succeed at licking the powerful nicotine addiction ruling my life!
The power of positive thoughts like this one should never be underestimated.
Remember....how we think determines how we feel and what we do. As a smoker you fail to realize that
your sense of control has been eroded as a result of being enslaved to the cigarette habit. Unfortunately,
this feeling of helplessness can spread into the rest of your life as well.
When you kick the habit, however, you develop a realistic and well-deserved increased
sense of control over your life. There are few things that require more self-discipline than saying no to
cigarettes. Each and every time you do, you are enhancing your sense of competence, and this wonderful feeling
generalizes to your life as a whole.
Your mental attitude is the single greatest determinant of your success. See yourself as
a winner. Fix an image in your mind that visualizes yourself as a nonsmoker, a conqueror of addiction to
tobacco, a winner who- no matter how intense the craving-will not succumb to temptation.
I am a nonsmoker. I choose not to smoke cigarettes.
Believe in yourself. You are a tenacious, immovable, stubborn, committed person. One
who resists all temptation to smoke. One who will succeed. A champion!
Treatment Sessions and Fees
In spite of the fact that cigarette smoking created illness costs tens of billions of
dollars annually, health insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for services directed at helping
people to stop smoking. They justify this lack of reimbursement on the grounds that smoking is a personal
choice. With such logic it is unclear why the same Company provides reimbursement for treatment for a broken
leg received from a skiing accident. Nevertheless, smoking cessation is not insurance reimbursable.
My fees are $150 per session. Each session is one hour in length. The average heavy
smoker who has been smoking for many years requires between 3 and 6 sessions. Depending upon how many
packs you smoke you will have paid for the treatment after only a few months and will then be gaining
more interest on the dollars you put into treatment than any other financial investment you will make
in your life.
